1 - Merchant / Terminal Creation and Setup
Every merchant created on Emida must be created on ECS website as well. ECS
application
installed on Verifone machines will be reflected as a WebService terminal on
EMIDA’s Side.
Emida must
configure these terminals as WebService, otherwise, the terminal will not be
able to transact.

-
Troubleshooting:
Here we
will see the errors that might occur once the terminal is being downloaded or
processing transactions.
# 4.1 - Errors when downloading terminal:
All Verifone
Omni Terminals
a. BLANK SCREEN – First check to see if the power supply in the middle of the
cord has
come loose. Unplug it and wait a minute, then plug it back in and make sure it
is tight. If that doesn’t do it, try
pressing F2, F4 at the same time and see if the “Enter System Password”
appears
on the screen. If so, this could be a programming issue. Sometimes VMAC is
inadvertently programmed twice, which will cause a blank screen. Try clearing
and redownloading the terminal per the “Download and Clearing” instructions.
b. BAD RX – the most
common reason for this is a bad phone line connection which can be anywhere
from the wall to the terminal, i.e. bad splitter, bad phone line, or they may
have digital phone lines, rather than analog. To rule this out, have the ISO
take the terminal to another location that they know has a good, analog phone
line connection.
c. BUSY SIGNAL – Check the phone line to make sure you have a dial tone. If
so, the
first thing I check is “Comm Settings” under Admin to make sure someone hasn’t
entered a password in the “Dial Prefix” screen. Otherwise, have them unplug
the
phone line from their terminal and plug it into a telephone to see if they
have
a dial tone.
d. CHANGE ADDRESS INFO IN
TERMINAL – Once the changes are made in ECS Prepaid
(make sure to check the receipt header in “Terminal Configuration” for
accuracy), the only way to change the information in the terminal is by going
to “Edit Configuration” in the Admin Menu. Press yes when asked if you want to
change the TID, but don’t erase the TID, just press enter, and then enter the
“Activation Password”. Once it is done
activating, the terminal will be set
with the new store information.
e. CHANGE TID – If you remove a terminal from a store and want to use it at
another
store, rather than clearing and redownloading, you can go to “Edit
Configuration” in the Admin Menu. When it asks if you want to change the TID,
press yes, use the yellow key to remove the old TID, enter the new TID and
press enter. It will then ask for the “Activation
Password”. Once it is done activating, the terminal will be set
with the new store information.
f. CLOCK SET – sometimes the clock gets out of sync. To reset date and/or time
on
the terminal, Press F2,F4 and enter system password. For the “Updated
Interface”, press the down arrow to Sys Mode Menu 2, press Clock - F4, press
F2
to edit time and F3 to edit date. Once done, restart the terminal. For the
“Original
Interface” on Sys Mode Menu 1, press F2 for clock
and then enter
in the date, press enter, then the time, and then press enter, then restart
the
terminal. The time and date are controlled at the terminal, not by ECS
Prepaid.
g. DATE CHANGE – See “Clock Set”.
h. DOWNLOAD NEEDED, NO *GO
VARIABLE – Usually this is caused when the store
has had a power surge of some kind and has lost the VMAC. Try redownloading
VMAC onto FG1. If you get the message “No Applications
Present”, then redownload ECS onto FG 6. The vast majority of the time this
procedure will work.
i. GO FILE NOT FOUND – Same troubleshooting as above.
j. Invalid ANI – The phone line that was in
the terminal when the activation was confirmed
has been changed. If the phone number that is now plugged into the
terminal is unknown, go to the Transaction Detail Report and select “Details”.
That will show you what number the terminal is trying to use. Copy that number
and then go to Terminal Configuration and paste
that number in “Edit Allowable
ANIs” and then click “[Add]”.
k. INVALID TERMINAL – Has the terminal been disabled due to a returned ACH?
Another reason
is that if a store is set up in ECS Prepaid and the IPP product is enabled
without being set up for IPP, or if no products have been chosen for the
store,
the terminal will say “Invalid Terminal” when trying to activate.
l. LOST CARRIER – Do they have call waiting? If so, it can be turned off by
entering “
*70,” in the Dial Prefix option. Is the terminal plugged into a splitter that
may be going bad? Check all connections from terminal to wall. The phone line,
itself, could also be bad. Anything from the terminal to the wall can go bad
at
any time.
m. NO CARRIER – Same troubleshooting as for “Busy Signal” above. Also, have
they
installed DSL into the store? If so, do they have a DSL phone line filter
plugged into the wall jack?
n. NO DIAL TONE – Same troubleshooting as for “Busy Signal”. Also, if they
have
Comcast as their internet and phone service provider, there is a filter that
Comcast uses that may interfere with communication of the terminal. Removing
the filter may help. If not, contact Comcast.
o. NO LINE – Check the phone
line to make sure you have a dial tone
and can make a call. Very rarely is
this a terminal issue, but it does happen. See “No Dial Tone”, also.
p. PAPER NOT FORWARDING – Is the paper jammed or did it run out? Make sure
they aren’t
trying to feed it through the roller. Is it a new roll of paper? If so, pull
the paper out a few
inches. Is the door closed properly? If they have the wrong paper
installed, the roll could be too large for the door to close. Open the cover
and see if all parts are intact. Sometimes if the terminal is dropped, or
closed too hard, the roller mechanism could be broke or missing. Check the
roller in the paper cover door. Is it missing? When you press it, does it
spring back? Is the little notched wheel to the left of the black roller still
there?
q. PIN DIDN’T PRIN T –Is the paper in correctly? Have the clerk run a
fingernail across
paper and the side that leaves a mark is the side that needs to be facing the
front when it is dropped into the holder. If it doesn’t leave a mark on either
side, it isn’t thermal paper. The paper needs to be 2 1/4” by 85’ Thermal
paper. Once corrected, reprint last transaction.
r. PRINT FADING, TOO LIGHT – The spring in the roller isn’t holding the paper
close enough to
the heat sink source. The spring could be tightened, unless it is missing. Or,
the paper at the beginning or ending of the roll is notorious for having a
residue on it that keeps the paper from printing properly. Old paper can cause
the same issue.
s. STRMPAY is not responding to VMAC – With the “Original Interface” you can
go
into the system with F2/F4 and enter the system PW (1 alpha alpha 66831),
arrow
down to System Mode Menu 3, Press F4 for FLASH and then F4 for Defrag, enter
the system PW, and then confirm. If that doesn’t help, or it is the “Updated
Interface”, you must clear the terminal and redownload per the “Download and
Clearing” instructions.
t. SYSTEM ERROR – All of a sudden it goes to “System Error”. You will have
three
options: Error Log – F2, System Mode – F3, and Restart – F4. If Restart – F4
doesn’t work, you will have to clear all
parameters in the active File Group 1, and all RAM and FLASH per the “Clearing
Terminal” instructions, and then redownload. You must press System Mode – F3
in
order to enter the password. Pressing F2, F4 from System Error does NOT work.
u. TIME SET – See “Clock Set”.
v. Write Comm Fail – The modem has gone bad and the terminal needs to be
replaced.
All System
Passwords:
1.1 alpha alpha 66831
2.7 alpha 7 alpha alpha alpha 198522
3.12 alpha 3 alpha 69
4.1 (occasionally just pressing 1 works) 5.Enter (rarely just pressing
enter works)
6.23378463 Omni System Mode Master Passcode Should none of these
work, there are four reasons:
a. The terminal may be locked
up. Try unplugging the power
cord for two minutes and try again.
b. The terminal has had credit cards, or another program from another
vender, loaded onto it and that company has changed the system password. You
would have to contact that company, if known, to get that password. Otherwise,
it has to be sent in for repair.
c. The ISO or Agent has changed the system password and you would have
to contact that person to get that password.
d.The terminal
has lost all its passwords. Many things can cause this. I suggest sending the
terminal to an authorized dealer for repair.
# 4.2 - Errors when processing a transaction:
A. MISSING CREDENTIALS: Emida credentials are not created on ECS for the
terminal
B. SERVER ERROR: This error might appear if Emida Credentials on ECS website
do not
match with the ones on Emida’s Support Site.
C. ISSUER DOWN: The real error will be posted on Intranet. Check for the error
and
try again.
D.
INVALID ANI: Restrict ANI is selected on
ECS web site. Remove restriction under terminal configuration on ECS and try
again.
There might be more errors once transactions are being made, updates
will be posted later. End..........
